A Texas firefighter and his wife are making family history with the upcoming arrival of their baby girl, breaking a 108-year streak of male births in the Sherman family, ABC13 News reports.
Michael Sherman and his wife, Joacquia, discovered they were expecting a daughter during a gender reveal celebration held Sunday. The couple was surrounded by family and friends when they received the news that would end more than a century of boys-only births.
“I just feel honored,” Sherman said. “We are the ones bringing the baby girl into the world. Finally, after over 100 years. It’s amazing.”
The Sherman family tree has been filled exclusively with sons since 1917, when Orah Belle Sherman, Michael’s great-great aunt, was born. According to Michael, Orah Belle left a significant legacy.
