Council chiefs have given the green light to the extension of a popular cycle and footpath through Plymstock .
Planning permission has now been granted for the extension which will see walkers and bikers able to avoid the busy Billacombe Road as they head into and out of the city centre from Plymstock and Sherford.
The extension will build on the well-used path that currently runs from Laira Bridge past Saltram Meadow by opening up the previously blocked-off bridge under Colesdown Hill and adding a new crossing over Elburton Road, making the route even more accessible.
The new extension will hopefully end the strange situation of the cycle-path being interrupted by a steep set of steps and a wheeling channel up onto Colesdown Hill .
