SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – John Lassey, 69, is facing charges after allegedly hitting and injuring a 6-year-old child in Spokane Valley. Lassey has pleaded not guilty to the crime.
Lassey's defense attorney argued for his release to attend healthcare appointments as the case continues. However, the judge denied this request due to the severity of the case.
The incident occurred in early August when Lassey allegedly struck the child, who was riding a bike, with his Jeep in his Spokane Valley neighborhood. Police reported that Lassey appeared intoxicated when they attempted to place him in a patrol car.
Investigators revealed that Lassey had a blood alcohol level of 0.12. After hitting the boy, Lassey reportedly crashed into a nearby house.
