A New Castle County Councilman is calling for the resignations of Appoquinimink Superintendent Dr. Matt Burrows and Board President Richard Forsten in the wake of an audit released last week into the district's finances.

The Appoquinimink School District has under extra scrutiny after a projected surplus of $7.9 million in a May report suddenly dropped to just $3.1 million, below Delaware's standards of funds for two payroll cycles.

District 12 Councilman Kevin Caneco, who represents most of the eastern part of the Appoquinimink School District's territory, used his time at the end of Tuesday night's County Council meeting, which ended just before the public session of the Appoquinimink School Board meeting, to address Appo's leadership.
