SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – The Spokane County Commissioners have appointed Preston McCollam as the new county prosecutor. McCollam has been serving in the position since July, following the retirement of former prosecutor Larry Haskell.
The decision came after commissioners interviewed three nominees on Tuesday, with McCollam being chosen to officially fill the role.
"One of the critical roles of prosecutor is to make sure that crime victims have a voice. And by bringing transparency to what it is that we do and what law enforcement does... it's incredibly important for the public to see just what the impact of crime is on the community --- on the crime victims --- on the average citizens that day in and day out have to bear the cost of that," McCollam stated.
