It's been 70 years since Graham George has been behind the wheel of a go-kart, but the 90-year-old aged care resident certainly still has a need for speed.

Mr George was one of nine residents from Burnie's OneCare Umina Park to hit the track at Latrobe's Kart Magic on Wednesday.

The aged care resident said racing around the track was something "everybody should have a go at", even those who have spent years on the road.

"The open air, the people ... it's beautiful," Mr George said.

"If you want to come out for a bit of relaxation, that's the place to go."

The go-karting excursion was an idea that the aged care residents came up with on their own, with the springtime race marking their second trip to the track.
