A man has been arrested following an extended police chase up the southern Queensland coast in a truck allegedly stolen from Brisbane this morning.

Police were alerted to the alleged theft from Elizabeth Street in Brisbane's CBD about 10:15am.

A pursuit involving police vehicles from across multiple jurisdictions and Polair tracked the truck northbound on the Bruce Highway through Brisbane's north, the Moreton Bay region, the Sunshine Coast and Gympie.

Officers spiked the truck's tyres at Yandina on the Sunshine Coast. It is understood it continued on its rims until it was halted near Canterwood Road in Owanyilli , south of Maryborough, just before 2pm.

Police said boxes had been falling out of the back of the truck onto the highway.

No-one was injured.
