LONDON — European stocks opened higher on Wednesday as investors assessed the latest trade news, corporate earnings and inflation data .

The pan-European Stoxx 600 was 0.5% higher shortly after the opening bell, with most sectors and all major regional bourses in positive territory.

Looking at individual stocks, Zara owner Inditex was up 6.7% by 8:35 a.m. in London (3:35 a.m. ET), after the company posted its first-half earnings. While the firm's second-quarter sales were weaker than expected , Inditex said its new Autumn/Winter collections had been "very well received" by customers, with constant currency sales between August 1 and Sept. 7 jumping 9% year-on-year.
