ROMEO – It’s no secret that Utica Eisenhower and Romeo are two of the favorites in the loaded Macomb Area Conference Red Division volleyball race this season.
After all, during the past decade-plus both the Eagles and Bulldogs have become perennial favorites from the MAC-Red and Macomb County in general.
Eisenhower is the defending MAC Red champion and it showed Tuesday when it mattered most during clutch time. The Eagles, ranked fifth in Division 1, outlasted host Romeo 3-1 in a closely-contested match which ended in a 25-19, 25-19, 22-25, 26-24 thriller where each of the four sets were close to the end.
The two schools are less than 10 miles apart from one another.
Eisenhower improved to 14-1-1 on the season with its only loss in three games coming against state powerhouse Birmingham
