Nearly 110 million Americans have been born since Sept. 11, 2001, or are too young to remember the day like those who froze in time, horrified on that morning.

For those who lived it, images unlikely ever to be forgotten remain vivid.

The 24th annual Tempe Healing Field at Tempe Beach Park is a moving recollection of the day and, organizers say, an educational opportunity for those who do not remember it.

“We can’t allow anyone to forget. We will never forget,” said Doug Royse, a Tempe Realtor and a sponsoring Exchange Club of Tempe organizer of the display.

On 9/11, hijackers took over four commercial jetliners and turned them into guided missiles. Two took down the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center in New York. Another ripped into the Pentagon in Washington.
