A woman has been seriously injured after being struck by a van in Western Australia's south.
The woman, aged in her 70s, was using a pedestrian crossing in Albany just after 2pm when she was reportedly struck by the vehicle on Albany Highway.
She was briefly trapped under the vehicle before being freed by fire crews and taken to Albany Hospital.
The crash was witnessed by a number of people in nearby cafes.
One witness said they saw a lady in a mobility scooter on the zebra crossing when she was struck by a mini-van and knocked off her scooter.
Another said they did not see the incident, but heard a loud crash before a crowd gathered at the scene.
They said the woman, who apparently lost consciousness, was lying prone on the ground with her mobility scooter on its side with her foot
