The Bloomington South boys tennis team has made itself into a top-10 squad to open the season.
Head coach Matt Corry is searching for more than that as this current group of mostly juniors and seniors coalesces into one of the state's best. He wants to test not only their skills and competitive natures, but wants to stress and expand their character as well.
Tuesday, Sept. 9, No. 19 Bloomington North came in ready to challenge the eight-ranked Panthers, who responded with a tough 3-2 win, led by a doubles sweep and a No. 2 singles win.
"Today, I felt like we had to come in and just be solid for what we do," Corry said. "We didn't need to get overly hyped. We didn't need to panic. We didn't need to do things beyond what we just needed to be doing. So, trust in that process."
