At 4:03 a.m. on Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued a coastal flood statement valid between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. for Suffolk and Nassau counties.

The weather service describes, "Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline."

"Brief minor flooding of the more vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline," adds the weather service. "Do not drive through flooded roadways."
