Former F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has finally said out loud what many have been thinking about Oscar Piastri’s world championship hopes in 2025.

The 24-year-old Aussie has set the pace for the majority of the season for McLaren, currently holding a 31-point lead over teammate Lando Norris in the drivers’ standings.

Piastri has seven race wins and 14 podiums to date, compared to five wins and 13 podiums for Norris, in a dominant season for McLaren.

There has been a growing feeling, however, that the team based in Woking outside London might just prefer Englishman Norris to claim this year’s crown.
