Mike Holston caught the ire of thousands of Australians when he filmed himself pouncing on a crocodile in Cape York, in the Lockhart River region of far north Queensland.
Halston, known online as @realtarzann, was filmed jumping-off a boat into the water to chase down and tackle a freshwater crocodile, suffering a bite on his arm as he got hold of the wild reptile.
Halston said in the clip: “Ever since I was a kid I wanted to come to Australia and just look at crocodiles.”
The American former NFL player sparked fury among internet users.
“This is horrible. That crocodile is so stressed. The behaviour is illegal, and the crocodiles are a protected species,” one person wrote.
