Nov. 28, 1966, marked the date of a social landmark in New York City’s Plaza Hotel. It was the Black and White Ball, done with a masquerade theme, and hosted by author and society celebrity Truman Capote. Since then, there’s been a slew of such gala balls, mostly without the masks, but using the two colors to title them.
In a fine show of brotherhood, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., New Orleans Alumni Chapter, held its Black & White Ball as a summer celebration. The location was the Convocation Center of Xavier University.
