A man who allegedly stole a food truck from Brisbane’s CBD on Wednesday and led officers on an hours-long chase was under the influence and suspended from driving at the time, according to police.

The 39-year-old Fortitude Valley man was charged with a string of offences on Wednesday evening after the 240-kilometre pursuit.

The vehicle was taken from Elizabeth Street about 10.15am and driven through north Brisbane and Moreton Bay, with multiple police vehicles – including a helicopter – in pursuit.

As the truck was driven up the Bruce Highway, the back door was open and food from the vehicle was reportedly strewn along the road.

The truck’s tyres were stripped by a deflation device on the Sunshine Coast, but the man failed to stop.
