When Gonzalo Carrasco first came to Lafayette to play soccer in 2022 for the Louisiana Krewe FC, the Spain native was focused on staying in shape for the fall collegiate season.

The midfielder, who was playing at Longwood University at the time, had no clue he’d find a second home in the 337.

“I came to Louisiana and people were very welcoming, very kind and they like to take care of you especially within the Louisiana Krewe,” Carrasco said. “There’s a big community and people are really supportive. They like to learn about you, they really try to make it feel like home.”

Fast foward to the club’s past summer season as a semi-professional team under the United Soccer League Two, Carrasco helped lead the Krewe to their best season yet.
