EVANSVILLE — Guns in schools. The subject eats at Melissa Voegel enough, she says, that she was planning to email EVSC Superintendent Darla Hoover about it even before a Delaware Elementary School student was caught last week trying to sell an unloaded handgun at school.
Voegel has two children in EVSC schools, one at Harrison High School and the other at Hebron Elementary. She said the memory of the Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting in Connecticut in 2012 has stayed with her.
So on Monday night, Voegel marched up to the microphone at an EVSC school board meeting to ask the school corporation to do more.
