Portsmouth has 'dumbest idea since Prohibition'
Sept. 8 − To the Editor:
I totally agree with the views expressed by Allen Norelli in his recent letter to the editor. (“ Portsmouth plan will make Congress Street problems worse ,” Letters to the Editor, 8/31/25.) I think that the plan to widen the sidewalks on Congress Street and remove one of the traffic lanes at the intersection of Congress, Islington, and Middle Streets is the dumbest idea since Prohibition.
I live at the edge of the downtown area in my house on State Street, and I have resided there for more than thirty years. I walk and/or drive through that intersection almost every day, and I have never noticed any problem with it, except that every once in awhile some fool parks his car in front of the Flatbread Pizza Company
