Poland's airspace has been violated by a significant number of Russian drones, according to Prime Minister Donald Tusk. He stated that some of these drones posed a direct threat to the country. The Polish Armed Forces confirmed that drone-like objects repeatedly entered Polish airspace during recent Russian strikes on Ukraine.

In a statement released early Wednesday, the Polish Operational Command of the Armed Forces reported that an operation was underway to identify and neutralize these objects. The statement urged the public to remain indoors as military operations continued. The areas most at risk include Podlaskie, Mazowieckie, and Lubelskie voivodeships.

The military emphasized that it was actively working to locate the downed objects. Earlier, they had activated all necessary procedures in response to what they described as a massive attack on Ukraine. Polish and allied aircraft were reported to be operating in the airspace, and ground-based air defense systems were placed on high alert.

Tusk confirmed on social media that military action was being taken against the unidentified objects. He stated, "The military used armaments against the objects. I am in constant contact with the President and the Minister of Defense. I received a direct report from the operational commander."

The situation has raised concerns about potential Russian aggression towards NATO territory. U.S. Representative Joe Wilson characterized the drone activity as "an act of war" and called for President Trump to impose sanctions. He noted, "Russia is attacking NATO ally Poland with Iranian shared drones less than a week after President Trump hosted President Nawrocki at the White House."

Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin also commented on the incident, stating that it "cannot be ignored." He warned that repeated violations of NATO airspace by Russian drones indicate that President Vladimir Putin is testing the resolve of NATO to protect its members, particularly Poland and the Baltic nations.

In response to the situation, multiple airports in Poland, including Warsaw's main airport, were temporarily closed due to the reported presence of Russian drones in Polish airspace. The Polish military remains on high alert as the situation develops.
