The FAI let Eileen Gleeson down very badly. Like it let Vera Pauw down before her.

Had the Association behaved properly, Gleeson would still be its Head of Women and Girls Football. She loved the job and seemed suited to it. But she became a pawn in a game designed to spare the FAI’s blushes over another of the embarrassing episodes typical of its long dysfunctional history.
