LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI)-- The Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office has identified the woman struck and killed early Monday morning at the intersection of South Street and Creasy Lane as 46-year-old Melanie Pogue of Lafayette.

Since News 18 first reported the incident Monday evening, dozens of community members have taken to Facebook to express their frustration and concern over the safety of the intersection—one that many now call dangerous and poorly lit.

We spoke with Nathan Scalf, a Lafayette resident who drives through the intersection daily. He says traffic congestion and poor visibility are long-standing issues.

“And then people get so frustrated that they creep through the lights, and that just extends it,” Scalf said.
