New powers are set to be handed to card providers to decided for themselves whether the £100 contactless limit is to be kept or not. As it stands, in the UK, there is a £100 limit on contactless payments when using a debit or credit card. ‌

And although contactless via smartphone has no limits, the Financial Conduct Authority has claimed that it will now speak to those in the industry on whether the rules will be relaxed across the board. ‌
