SAGINAW, MI — The Michigan Department of Transportation will spend $180,000 to resurface a portion of westbound M-46, also known as Williams Street, in Saginaw beginning Monday, Sept. 15.

The five-day project will stretch from the Saginaw River to South Michigan Avenue, with work expected to conclude on Friday, Sept. 19, weather permitting. During construction, traffic will be maintained with single-lane closures in both directions.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in a statement said that, by the end of this construction season, the state will have addressed nearly 24,500 lane miles of roads and 1,900 bridges, creating local jobs “without raising taxes by a dime.”

The project aims to extend the lifespan of the road and enhance motorist safety, according to state officials.
