The Eagles will have Jalen Carter for their Super Bowl rematch.

Welcome back to The Morning Win. Lesson of the day: don't try to trademark things that are already trademarked. You'll probably get rejected.

Bill Belichick learned that lesson recently, as the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office refused four trademark applications filed by the UNC coach and his girlfriend, Jordan Hudson, saying the attempted trademarks would cause a likelihood of confusion. Why? Because they were phrases already trademarked by the New England Patriots -- with one small but notable addition. Take a look for yourself: "Do Your Job (Bill's version)." "Ignore the Noise (Bill's version)." "No Days Off (Bill's version)."

What in the Taylor Swift is going on here?

It's hilarious Belichick and Hudson ever thought that would work. It's sad they're still a topic of conversation now two weeks into the college football season. At what point does Belichick make the program he was hired to coach the top priority? I guess that's hard to do when you're still preoccupied with your previous employer, as Belichick appears to be.

On Saturday, he confirmed that he banned Patriots staff from the UNC program, saying "it's clear that I'm not welcome at their facility, so they're not welcome at ours." Those sound like the words of a bitter man who's still not over his ex.

Look, I get it. Belichick's exit from New England came before he was ready. No other NFL team was willing to give him another shot, which is how he ended up in the college ranks in the first place. But what good is Belichick to North Carolina if he's still worried about how things ended up north? How is he supposed to teach young athletes to leave tough circumstances in the rearview if he's not showing an ability to do so himself.

Attempting to trademark and rebrand old catchphrases already owned by the Patriots comes across as petty. Banning Patriots scouts from having access to your team is also petty (and only hurts your team). He's like a person obsessing over a lost lover who isn't thinking about them at all, which is terrible news for North Carolina. That type of person typically doesn't have the capacity to give anyone else the attention they deserve.

Thankfully, the Pats appear to be extending an olive branch. New Patriots coach Mike Vrabel said Belichick's presence at Tom Brady's team Hall of Fame ceremony last summer is proof he's welcome back. Patriots owner Robert Kraft said he plans on commissioning a statue of Belichick next to the newly erected Brady statue outside Gillette Stadium. Belichick (and Hudson) should take those things as signs enough of respect and move on. Get back to great coaching and create new catchphrases. You're a GOAT. Start acting like it.

Jalen Carter won't be suspended for spitting

Jalen Carter won't be forced to miss the Eagles' Super Bowl rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, avoiding any suspension for spitting on Dak Prescott during last Thursday's NFL opener. The reason Carter won't be suspended is simple: he already missed a game.

"Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the NFL will fine Carter $57,222 for spitting on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott but will consider his early game ejection the one-game suspension for the act. That means he's eligible to play going forward."

As much as I believe Carter's act to be disgusting and disrespectful, I think this is probably the right call. Hit him with a big fine equal to one game check, but there's no need for Carter to miss more game action for a first offense.
