Across the country, discussions about the affordable housing crisis often center around the impacts felt by major cities: from skyrocketing rents to bidding wars to large-scale displacement.

But unbeknownst to many Americans, rural communities are grappling with many of the same challenges, often with far fewer tools and resources to respond. For rural towns and villages throughout the United States, the affordable housing crisis is just as dire as it is in urban centers.
