Lidl stores across Scotland are set to welcome a new version of the beloved empire biscuit, featuring a caramelised twist, after it was voted as the nation's favourite.

The Caramelised Biscuit Empire will hit the shelves in all 112 Scottish Lidl stores from Thursday, September 11. The innovative biscuit was chosen as Scotland's top pick to become Lidl's next 'Special Guest' - a range of limited edition goodies available only while stocks last - at the Royal Highland Show in June.

Crafted by Glasgow's much-loved bakery and long-standing Lidl supplier, McGhee's, lucky shoppers with a Scottish surname will even have the chance to grab the biscuit for free.
