TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. (WVUE) - A portion of the Tangipahoa River has reopened to boaters after the Smitty’s Supply explosion .

The parish reopened the river from the Black Bayou to Lake Pontchartrain on Monday.

The parish statement reads in part:

“Officials ask that marine traffic be mindful there is a light sheen of oil residue still present on the water in these areas. Please do not navigate north of Black Bayou; Also please do not cross any boom placed across the river or interfere with booming and recovery operations.”
