A TEEN thought her lingering cough was due to a simple cold - but she was devastated to learn the true cause of her symptoms.

It all began when Billie Williams noticed a lump under her arm during a family holiday in Spain.

The 13-year-old had other cold-like symptoms, including a lingering cough , so she brushed it off as raised lymph nodes.

But as the lump in her armpit and new ones in her neck grew bigger, she and her parents, Emma and Nick, began to suspect it was more serious.

Blood work and scans soon found the cause, and Billie’s parents were given the horrifying news that she had Hodgkin lymphoma, an uncommon cancer that develops in the lymphatic system.

“It was so surreal,” the teenager, from Derbyshire, said.
