The wonder and biodiversity of the expansive Great Marsh are transformed into flowing painted silks in the hands of Gloucester artist and Newburyport educator Susan Quateman.

For more than a decade she has been weaving art and science together to help people understand the importance of the singular nature of the salt marsh and the role it plays within the environment in hopes that people will become its stewards as climate change brings new challenges to the ecosystem.
