Invites on iCloud calendars are the latest internet scam targeting Apple users.
The invites are being used to send phishing emails that appear to be sent directly from Apple’s email servers, according to BleepingComputer .
One user reported to BleepingComputer that they had received an email with a receipt billed to their PayPal account. The email also included a phone number where the payment can be disputed.
Scammers hope the user will call the number and give up personal information when disputing the fake charge that can be used to access your accounts or steal money, according to BleepingComputer.
The email comes from the address noreply@email.apple.com, which adds to the sense of legitimacy. The email is actually a calendar invite, allowing it to circumvent Apple’s spam filters
