CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio – Both Cleveland Heights City Council members running to be the city’s second-ever elected mayor will advance to the November general election.

As of 11 p.m. Tuesday, council members Jim Petras and Davida Russell outpaced the other three candidates, garnering 28.4% and 27.9% of votes, respectively, according to unofficial results posted by the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections, with all 33 precincts reporting.

Deeanna Bremer Fisher finished third, with 20.1%, and Laura Kingsley Hong received about 17.5%% of votes cast.

Marty Gelfand was last among the five candidates, with just over 6%.

The top two vote getters in Tuesday’s primary election will square off in the Nov. 4 general election.
