This Syracuse hardware store is closing after 79 years even as customers beg owner to stay

Syracuse, N.Y. – For 79 years, if you ever needed a part to fix a leaky faucet or just about anything else in your home, you could count on City Hardware to have it.

But the family-owned hardware store, which started on Oswego Street in 1946 and moved to 214 S. Geddes St. in 1987, is closing next month.
