BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - The Chair of the Bangor City Council has resigned effective immediately, according to the Bangor Daily News.
In her letter of resignation, obtained by the outlet, Cara Pelletier says she’s experienced personal attacks beyond what she considers reasonable for an office holder, and the impact on her well-being has been significant.
She went on to say public service shouldn’t come at the cost of one’s health.
Pelletier was elected in 2022 and served as council chair the past two years.
Her three year term was due to expire in November, and she wasn’t running for reelection.
