Gov. Ned Lamont today is issuing a directive for U.S. and state flags in Connecticut to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Thursday, Sept. 11, in remembrance of the nearly 3,000 people who were killed in the 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States.

Flags will be at half-staff on the Connecticut State Capitol building and all other state-operated buildings, grounds and facilities statewide.

Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, and any other private entities and government subdivisions are encouraged to lower their flags as well.

Lamont also said that the state will illuminate the Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge in New Haven, or the “Q Bridge” in red, white, and blue lights beginning at
