The Peoria Unified governing board will discuss a proposed policy this week that seeks to regulate parent attendance at high school practices.

The board also will consider during its Sept. 11 meeting a number of other policies at the meeting ranging from grooming to leaves of absence.

The purpose of the sports practices policy, introduced by board President Heather Rooks, is to establish procedures and expectations regarding parent and guardian attendance at high school athletic practices.

“The policy is intended to promote transparency, strengthen school-community partnerships, and ensure that athletic practices remain safe, orderly, and focused on student-athlete development,” the proposed language states.
