Los Angeles won the bid to host the games in 2017. It’s poised to make history by being a three-time Summer Olympic host, becoming the third city to do so, Mayor Karen Bass said in a statement earlier this year . Los Angeles previously hosted the games in 1932 and in 1984.

LA28 serves as the organizer for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which have a budget of $6.9 billion, according to city documents reported by CNBC . Funding for the games comes from “corporate partners, licensing agreements, hospitality and ticketing programs and a significant contribution from the International Olympic Committee,” according to LA28 .
