Maamwesying North Shore Community Health Services staff accessed health records incorrectly because Maamwesying did not take “reasonable” steps to “onboard” Thessalon health workers and manage their privacy training properly, the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario has found.

“I find that, at the time of the breaches, the custodian (Maamwesying) did not take steps that are reasonable in the circumstances to ensure that personal health information in their custody or control is protected,” investigator Francisco Woo wrote.
