Gov. Gretchen Whitmer On Wednesday, Sept. 10, announced that U.S. and Michigan flags across the state will be lowered to half-staff on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025, to honor and remember those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.
“On Patriot Day, we remember those we lost in the terrorist attacks on 9/11, honor those who serve, and recommit ourselves to standing up for what's right,” Whitmer said in a release. “I encourage all Michiganders to come together in a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. local time and participate in local community service or charitable giving. This day reminds us to come together and honor our core values of freedom and opportunity. When we stand united, we are capable of greatness.”
Sept. 11 marks the 24th anniversary of terrorist attacks that claimed 2,900 lives
