Three people were injured in a shooting on the 15100 block of Cornell Avenue in Dolton Tuesday night, and no suspects are in custody, according to a Dolton spokesperson.

Meanwhile, one person was taken was taken into custody, after a shooting in Calumet City involved police, a spokesperson there said.

All victims in Dolton were taken to area hospitals, where they are reported to be in critical condition, the village said.

The spokesperson said the shooting occurred as about 20 to 35 people gathered for a balloon release honoring a former resident, according to preliminary investigation.

The shooter, whose identity is still unknown, came out of nearby bushes during the gathering and opened fire, discharging about 30 to 40 rounds, according to the spokesperson.
