MCMINN COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — A Florida man has been arrested and accused of posing as a 'federal agent' to try to scam victims in near Englewood, in a scam that authorities say that may have ties to China.

McMinn County Sheriff Joe Guy announced Wednesday that Ziyi Lu, 26, of Coral Springs, Florida was arrested on charges of criminal conspiracy of theft and financial exploitation of an elderly or vulnerable adult. He is being held at the McMinn County Jail on a $120,000 bond.

Guy shared that he received a call from a resident who lives in the Zion Hill subdivision near Englewood around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, asking for help with his wife, who was on the phone with someone claiming to be a federal agent.
