OKLAHOMA CITY — The departing director of the Office of Management and Enterprise Services has pushed back on assertions that he submitted his resignation only after Attorney General Gentner Drummond dispatched a fiery letter about him to Gov. Kevin Stitt.

Rick Rose said he informed Stitt of his plan to return to private legal practice before he learned about Drummond’s letter, dated Sept. 4. The letter was highly critical of Rose for not approving a purchase of vehicles that the AG said his office needs to enforce state laws.

Rose said in a news release that he verbally submitted his resignation to Stitt on Sept. 3 and didn’t find out about the attorney general’s letter to the governor until Monday, when a reporter asked him for
