Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel said officials are reconsidering a plan to build a new animal shelter near the existing one and instead relocating it to Freedom Hill County Park or at Macomb Community College’s Center Campus, though MCC officials said that is “unworkable.”
During an event Monday for introduction of a pet micro-chip reader for stray animals in Clinton Township, Hackel said officials also are rethinking their effort to raise most of the funds for a new shelter via donations and it instead will be paid for by county capital-funding dollars.
