OREM, Utah (WTVO) — Commentator Charlie Kirk, of Turning Point USA, was shot while speaking at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.

Kirk was speaking as part of The American Comeback Tour.

FBI Director Kash Patel posted on X, saying, "We are closely monitoring reports of the tragic shooting involving Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. Our thoughts are with Charlie, his loved ones, and everyone affected. Agents will be on the scene quickly and the FBI stands in full support of the ongoing response and investigation."

Video shared on X, purportedly taken at the scene, shows Kirk speaking at an outdoor event as a noise like a gunshot is heard, and Kirk falls from his seat.

ABC News reported that a suspect is in custody.
