Cornwall council endorsed a new climate adaptation plan on Monday, with strong opposition from one councillor.

Citing a lack of recommendations on how to actually implement a plan or policy regarding climate action in the city, Coun. Fred Ngoundjo rejected the Climate Resilient Cornwall: Climate Adaptation Plan , calling it weak. By trade, Ngoundjo has a background in bioengineering and works as a technical adviser for the Government of Canada.

“Maybe it’s my scientific side, but I am honestly not satisfied with this,” he said.

Even more disconcerting to Ngoundjo was the $99,930 price tag for the plan , which was developed by B.C. company Pinna Sustainability Inc., the same company that developed the city’s Climate Action Plan in 2023.
