POLK COUNTY, Minn. — A Polk County man was sentenced Tuesday, Sept. 10, to 180 months for raping a juvenile girl on more than one occasion.

Brian Lee Espinoza, 34, pleaded guilty in July to two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. A third count was dismissed.

A concerned third party reported Espinoza to law enforcement in January. The reporting party said they believed he was physically and sexually assaulting a girl, according to a probable cause statement filed in the case.

The girl confirmed to law enforcement that Espinoza had been assaulting her for years, and had done so as recently as that morning.

At sentencing, Espinoza was ordered to spend a total of 15 years in custody. He has credit for 244 days served. After getting out of prison, he will be on conditional relea
