Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on Wednesday offered his strongest signal yet that he plans to run for a third term.
During a news conference outside Pine Bend Elementary School in Inver Grove Heights, he told reporters to expect an official announcement on his decision in the “next few days.”
“I think that’s a safe assumption,” said Walz when asked if he was leaning toward running in 2026.
An announcement could come early next week. Walz said his final decision would come after he talked with his family over the weekend.
Walz’s remarks came after the Minnesota Reformer reported that the governor told donors he intended to run again during a fundraiser Tuesday night.
There has been wide speculation this year that Walz was weighing a third term.
