ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A northwest Georgia man has been convicted and sentenced to prison in a deadly head-on collision that happened eight years ago, prosecutors said.

On Aug. 28, following a four-day trial, a Chattooga County jury returned guilty verdicts on all 10 counts against Daniel James Craig for his role in the fatal crash. The charges included first-degree vehicular homicide, serious injury by vehicle, and multiple counts of driving under the influence of alcohol.

The judge then sentenced Craig to 30 years, with 10 years to serve in prison.

The incident happened at the top of Taylor’s Ridge on July 20, 2017, according to the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.

Evidence at the trial showed that Craig had been drinking until around 4 a.m
