Charlie Kirk, a Trump ally and the executive director of Turning Point USA, has been shot, according to the Salt Lake Tribune . A spokesperson for TPUSA later confirmed the shooting. Kirk was speaking at an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on Wednesday and was reportedly answering a question about mass shootings when gunfire was heard.

“We do know there was a shot fired from the top of the Losee Center,” UVU said in a statement to the Salt Lake Tribune . “Someone appeared to be at the top of that building or somewhere inside. We don’t know if they’ve been apprehended.” NBC News later reported that UVU sent students an alert stating that a suspect was in custody.
